The mosque has a square base of 13x13m, above the entrance door there is a porch 4 meters wide, supported by four marble pillars, and it is covered with three large domes. The interior of the mosque has a square base above which is a dome, 10.85 m in diameter, 15.25 m high, richly decorated with arabesques. In the former Yugoslavia, it was one of the medium-sized mosques. It lies on a square field and is almost square in shape. According to the project of the existing condition, it is 17.20 m long and 13.10 m wide, with walls 1.10 m thick, while its interior measures 10.70 x 10.80 x 10.30 m. All openings are framed by finely worked stone window sills. The entire length of the north-west wall is covered by a high and massive porch, which rests on four marble pillars of circular cross-section, mutually reinforced by fracture arches. The architectural solution of the porch is divided into three parts for the passage, of which the central part is lower than the two side. Above all three parts are domes. The minaret of Hussein Pasha's mosque is the largest in the Balkans, 42 meters high. In the interior of the mosque, four richly decorated half-domes in the corners stand out, as well as a hexagonal mihrab, decorated with geometric motifs and framed by a rectangular wall. On the floor of the mosque there is an original carpet from 1573. The carpet is sewn with leather, weighing 400 kg, measuring 10x10 meters, made in Egypt, made to measure for this mosque. At the end of 2007, the rehabilitation works on Hussein Pasha's mosque were completed, and in 2008 the construction of a stone fence around the mosque complex and the arrangement of harems with tombstones, leveling of the terrain, construction of access paths with gates and horticultural landscaping were completed.

Construction of the mosque began in 1570.
